La Villa

ABOUT

A medieval village where the intricate narrow streets bear witness to other times, as do the flavors of its cuisine and the ringing of its bells: it is Alquézar, a little gem hidden at the foot of the Pyrenees in Huesca and has been named a Historic-Artistic Site. Its name comes from Al-Qasr, a term that in Arabic means castle and that bears witness to its Islamic past, when the defenders of the city erected a castle as a gate to defend access to Barbastro, capital of the region, and which lies at the foot of the Natural Park of the Sierra de Guara.
